Young scooter rider killed

November 7th, 2006

Recently there has been fatality, just around the corner from where I live. A young scooter rider was killed when a car pulled out in front of him when he was riding down the main road. This has almost happened to me on a few occasions. When will some people realise that they are driving what amounts to a lethal weapon.

You see this type of driver more and more on the roads these days, driving down the road in their company car (which most users don’t care less about because they are not paying for it) sitting there as though they are sat at home in their comfy armchairs watching TV.

After driving on the continent you realize what a group of arrogant pricks the average British motorists are. If you ask the majority of them what they think of their driving skills I’m sure most would say that they are far above average, then ask them to explain how the machine that they are driving works…………

  • No regard for others safety
  • Totaly oblivious to what is going on around them
  • Using expensive mobile phones without a £25.00 bluetooth headset
  • Total lack of lane discipline on motorways and dual carriageways
  • Refusing to use their indicators - all it takes is for them to move their finger a huge distance of around 2 inches!!
  • White van man!

The list is endless - do you see anything above that relates to your driving style? I bet some of you do.

This is a very sad story, but the saddest thing of all is that some drivers will read this and carry on as normal - as I said before, arrogant pricks with driving skills that don’t come anywhere near their perception of them.

I would sooner drive though any Italian city than drive on our roads

Speed Camera’s

April 27th, 2006

I have just been reading in MCN about speed camera partnerships ‘bending’ the rules when it comes to positioning speed cameras. Apparently a great deal of these safety devices have been put in places that are more likely to produce revenue than reduce accidents!

It’s a damned good job I read that - otherwise I would have had no idea that this is the case!!!!!!

Seriously though, has anyone ever seen a speed camera on any housing estate!!! I would have thought that this would have been a fantastic place to site them if safety was the main priority.

A funny little story

On the housing estate where I used to live, my next door neighbor (who was an olympic whiner I might add) was constantly complaining to the local council about people speeding past his house (we used to live on the main road though the estate).

Eventually the council contacted the local police and they set up a mobile speed camera for a day to monitor the situation. I bet you can guess what happened…….

Yup, my next door neighbor was the only motorist caught speeding that day :)

MOT time again

April 27th, 2006

I have just realised that my MOT is due for renewal and am having difficulty booking it in anywhere locally. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Ever MOT centre that I have contacted is reponding with “sorry mate I cant just fit you in now, its all down to the new computerized system”.

Hmm….. another way of reducing motorcycle related deaths on British roads??

It has just dawned on me, because of this I can’t go to the BSB at Oulton Park on my bike now……..bollocks!!!!!

Site Changes

April 20th, 2006

Sat here  again like “Billy no Mates” trying to get the site to some stage where I’m going to be happy with it. I Have altered the menu god knows how many times but I’m still not happy with it, grrrrr.

I wish I was one of those damned web design wizards that can just tap a few keys and, hey presto - a lovely looking site appears. Everything I do seems to turn out looking like a portrait of baby sick……yeuk.

Oh well I must press on because it has to look bloody right or I’m about to pull out what little hair I’ve got left.

New Members

April 18th, 2006

Yehaw……..

The Biker Cafe is a week or so old now and people are starting to sign up. Fantastic, I look forward to seeing more.

I hope you all enjoy your membership here and look forward to your contribution in hopefully making Biker Cafe one of the most popular biker portal sites in the UK and eventually Worldwide.

The whole idea of the site is to allow people to be able to express themselves without worrying too much about rules and regulations - there is too much of that in daily life.

I look forward to the day when I can sit back and see the site develop of its own accord into a community which people enjoy calling back to.

Speed Kills

April 5th, 2006

Which idiot coined that phrase? It isn’t speed that kills - its the abrupt stopping that kills you (usually assisted by some blue rinse in a daewoo). I just watched on the news about some poor girl that was killed by a hit and run driver that wasnt legally on the road.

He received an 18 month sentence (WOW) and will most likely be released in 6 months.

Compare this with the guy who got a similar sentence for speeding on his bike……

  • Nobody was injured!
  • Nobody was affected in any way!
  • He wasn’t interfering with anyones driving!

Now I’m not condoning the use of ridiculous speeds on the highway, but there doesnt seem to be any use of commonsense in the British justice system to me.

Maybe someone thinks otherwise?

Hospitals in crisis

April 5th, 2006

Just been watching the news on TV and one of the main stories was about hospital trusts not being able to balance their books because of lack of funding. WTF is that all about?

Well I’ve got a suggestion for a solution…….

Stop spending taxpayers money on speed cameras you fools!

Do this and the will be loads of spare cash floating about that can be used for “real” issues!
